Without inner conflict, the hero’s tale was hollow.
According to Jenny Sawyer, writing an article for the Christian Science Monitor, I am the most compelling character out of the Hogwarts bunch because of my internal crisis and struggle to find the right thing to do.
I think she got it pretty much right. I had a fairly tough life, and if anything came easy to me it was a rare occurrence. No one knew who’s side I was truly on until the last events of my life. Harry, however, had his success handed to him on a silver platter from day one.
I feel I caused too many people to see me as evil, when I only wanted to help. However, I did what needed to be done.
That being said…I think Sawyer makes a good point. J.K. Rowling missed a great opportunity to have a deep, mysterious series. Maybe, the series should have been written about me all along.
What do you think?
